Foster Care

What is the purpose of foster care?

Foster parents open their homes to children in need of temporary care, an undertaking that is both rewarding and challenging. A foster home is a safe and secure, loving and nurturing home where a child can find refuge during a difficult time in their lives. Some children are in foster care for a few weeks, or months, or years but all children that come from a vulnerable history deserve to have a place they can grow, develop and learn healthy relationships are. This allows biological parents the time and space needed to work through their struggles, get the help and support they need to become healthy, stable parents for their children. Foster families play an important role in this process, with the end goal being family reunification when possible and in the best interest of the child(ren). Fostering a child takes hard work, dedication, patience, and love.

Why is foster care important?

Children are in foster care due to circumstances that were beyond their control, they all can achieve their own successes and happiness in life with the support and guidance of a loving and nurturing environment. When you become a licensed foster caregiver you are providing that foster children in our community can remain in their schools and surrounded by their local community. Foster siblings have a greater chance of being placed together in a home which helps ease the transition and gives them an opportunity to thrive.
